The sum of the ages of a father and his son is 100 years now . 5 years ago their ages were in the ratio of 2:1 .The ratio of the ages of father and son after 10 years will be

  1. 5:3
  2. 4:3
  3. 10:7
  4. None of these

Solution:

5 years back sum of their age was = 100–(5+5)=90 years

Age ratio=2:1

Ratio sum = 2+1 = 3

Father’s age 5 years back= 90× 2/3 =60 years

Son’s age 5 years back= 90-60= 30 years

Ages Now = 60+5: 30+5

65:35

Ratio of their ages 10 years after will be= (65+10): (35+10)= 5:3

A person bought 200 dozen orange at Rs.10 per dozen and he spent Rs. 500 on transportation. He sold each orange at Rs.1 each what was his profit or loss %?

  1. 5%
  2. 4%
  3. 3%
  4. None of these

Solution:

Buy: 200 dozen oranges

per dozen: 10 Rs

transport expense: 500

Sell earch orange at : 1 Rs

Cost price of 200 dozen oranges = 200*10 = 2000

Total oranges with expense = 2000+500 = 2500

Sell 2400 oranges in 2400 Rs because each orange price is 1

So he got loss, how much? see below

Loss  = 2500-2400 = 100 Rs

Loss % = Lossx100 / Cost

= 100*100/2500

= 4%
